The Cape West Rotary Radio Auction is our longest standing service event, and over its life has raised funds for many community organizations, projects and funded everything from playground equipment to vans to sheet rock and roofing. Our goal with the event is to provide you with a great selection of items well worth the value of your bid so that we raise significant funds to help these great local charities.

For 57 years, the men and women of Cape West Rotary have chased friends, business owners and community connections for donations to the auction. Time and time again, you’ve come through to make sure we all make a difference in our community. Thank you all for years of support, and we look forward to coming through your door again to ask for “something for the auction.”

This year’s auction marks the 57th year. Our primary beneficiary this year is Discovery Playhouse in Cape Girardeau!

ONLINE BIDDING IS NOW OPEN!

ONLINE BIDDING: ALL of our auction items are listed online for bidding BEFORE the radio auction happens! The online auction is open NOW. You can to bid on all items through our auction link, and we WILL close out some items before the November 5th radio broadcast either by max bid or by you using the “BUY IT NOW” option. Additionally, online bidders will be able to actively bid on auction items the day of, as well. Phone bids and online bids will co-exist, and all bids will be shown online at the auction site.

A NOTE ABOUT THE ONLINE PIECE: We would suggest getting set up ahead of time on the website. Once the wheels start turning, you can have text messages sent when you’re outbid, making it easier to track your items (if you choose). By setting up early, you’ll save some time on the day of the auction.

Even with the online option, we strongly encourage you to pay by check or cash at the station at 324 Broadway. The fees for online payments dip into both your pockets and into the auction proceeds, and while more convenient, you’ll still need to swing by and pick up your items. 

As a club, we always stress that we are a service organization. After all, our motto is “Service Above Self”, and that is why we try to do tangible donations whenever possible. Hands-on work and visual progress always feels more impactful than simply writing a check.

How it works: Items will be slated to be auctioned off in 1/2 hour blocks. This way, you can plan ahead and not sweat spending an entire day with the radio. 🙂

As each group begins, those items will be up for bid. To bid, you simply call 573-339-2058. Operators will take your bid. You can call in for multiple items at once, and you can call in again to raise your bid during that bidding session.

At the end of each group, we will ring the bell on the air, and that signals the end of bidding. If you were connected to an operator before the bell rang, your bid will still count. No bids for the closed group will be taken after the bell rings.

You will pick up your items at the River Radio studios, located at 324 Broadway in Cape Girardeau that day before 5:00p. Items can be paid via cash, local check, or credit/debit. WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO PAY FOR ALL ITEMS BY CASH OR CHECK TO AVOID EXTRA CREDIT CARD FEES. Items not picked up that day can be arranged for pick up later (location TBD).
